Hello everyone! My name is Harris Vu. For the months of May and June, I’ll be an intern here at CHARM. I have only just started but I feel right at home here already.

I am Vietnamese American and was born and raised in California. I currently attend Connecticut College in Connecticut as an East Asian Studies major with a concentration on Japan. This past academic year I studied abroad at Doshisha University through the Associated Kyoto Program (AKP) from September 2012 to April 2013. I have been studying Japanese for the past two and a half years and I can speak conversational Vietnamese.

I found out about CHARM through their pamphlets and cards at Bazaar Cafe and eventually met through a friend of one of my professor’s at AKP who works with Kyoto YWCA’s Asian People Together.

My hobbies include reading (when I get the chance), singing and listening to music (I love karaoke!), and as of recently, biking around Kyoto.

I hope to be able to learn a lot from this internship while sharing my own experiences.
